Finally got some time away from work and what's the first thing I do? Head to anthropologie!! :)
I knew I would never buy the Blooming Brilliance Blouse at full price ($228), but something about it intrigued me and I decided to try it on. First off, the silk material is very thin and almost see-through... kinda unbelievable with such an outrageous price tag. That being said, the fit was great and the color is gorgeous. The ruffle on the shoulder is just a little too big for me though with nothing to balance it out on the other side....
I love the vintage feel of the Swinging Sweetheart Dress and it's unlike any other dress I own. I tried on a size zero and the fit was perfect. The dress hit right at my knees and I'm 5'7", so it might be a little long on shorter ladies. I didn't think I would be too impressed with this dress, but fell in love when I tried it on.
Why oh why do I love every single dress that Corey Lynn Calter makes?? This darling dress isn't online yet, but I stopped in my steps when I saw it at my local store. The print is so cute and the fit is just right. I didn't take a picture of the back, but it it a deep v with a little bow that you can tie... so adorable! I must have this dress! ♥
I really wanted to like the Peeking Needlework dress, but it just didn't work for me. I tried on the size zero, but I still felt like it was big and it made me feel bigger... The material is really pretty in real life and I think I would have really liked it if the fit would have been better... maybe it'll work on someone else!
Wow, the Monukka Dress might be the worst dress I have ever tried on at anthropologie... it is seriously like a garbage bag. It looked so cute online and I was really excited to try it on, but it is completely shapeless and the belt didn't go around my natural waist, but more around my hips... definite pass!
my shopping outfit :)
I love your blog. You have the cutest outfits!
ReplyDeleteThe peeking needlework dress looks really cute!
ReplyDeletealso, cute shopping outfit :)
Another great set of reviews Vanessa :) Thanks for taking the time to post pictures!
ReplyDeleteThe Blooming Brilliance Blouse looks *perfect* on you. A bit disappointing on the material, but I vote you go get it come sale time as the color (so much more vibrant than online!) and cut suit you really well. The Swinging Sweetheart dress is also so pretty on you -- my body can't deal with Girls from Savoy's constant high necklines personally, but they look great on women like you.
I'm with you on the Peeking Needlework Dress -- adore all the lace and texture, but it made me look, wider and dumpier some how. Sizing up helped a little bit, but still, kind of disappointing! And I laughed at your description of the Monukka dress -- it kind of is like a garbage bag! I mean, I think you pull it off better than I ever could, but its disappointing because it looked so much more flattering online...
Oh, that Corey Lynn Calter dress looks great on you! I saw it in my store yesterday but didn't really pay attention to it. You're making me want to go back and check it out again.
ReplyDeleteLove the Swinging Sweetheard Dress on you! The scallop in the back is a cute little touch!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute shopping outfit! Love the Free Flow tank!!!
The Swinging Sweetheart Dress looks fabulous on you!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the new CLC dress in-store.
Thanks for the reviews!
Sarah
Oh wow. the swinging Sweetheart Dress is so gorgeous on you. I am a little sad that it is a little on the long side since I am short, but it looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteAnd I totally love your shopping outfit!
I really like the first two dresses. And you look lovely with your professor blazer and the free flow tank.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous in the blue top and the Swinging Sweetheart dress!! I NEED THAT DRESS IN MY LIFE!!! I will have to alter the length since I am 2 inches shorter than you, but wow, it's just how I hoped it would look!
ReplyDeleteOne question, is the Swinging Sweetheart Dress on the roomy side? I can take either a 0 or 2 in Anthro dresses, depending on how form-fitting they are through the hips, but am wondering which would be better...Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWOW! The Swinging Sweetheart Dress is the definition of lovely on you! I tried it on as well and I definitely love it on you more than on me! I just couldn't get the length to work for my shorty-short self.
ReplyDeleteSorry if I'm butting in but Chrissy, I found the dress to be a tad on the roomy side in the waist and not very form-fitting at all through the hips; I'd probably go with the 0.
Thanks for the tip on the size...
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so glad you like the Swinging Sweetheart dress. I was on the fence about it but it looks stunning on you! It'll probably be too long on me, though :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the reviews!
Just found your blog and so happy I did! You have great reviews of Anthro stuff and have more patience than me in trying most things on. Just realized that the swinging sweetheart dress deserves serious consideration!!

Thanks ladies for all the sweet comments! ♥
ReplyDeleteChrissy - I agree with Anonymous, the Swinging Sweetheart Dress is on the roomy side in the waist and very forgiving in the hips so I think you would be good with a zero.
According to the website, the Swinging Sweetheart Dress is supposed to have a silk lining. I received mine today and it is not lined. Vanessa, do you remember if the dress you tried on had a lining?
ReplyDeleteHi Vladislava! The Swinging Sweetheart Dress I tried on (and ultimately bought) didn't have a silk lining either. Looks like the website needs to update their description!
ReplyDeleteWould you say that the blooming brilliance blouse fits TTS?
