new jcrew terra dress

Before the new dress, I have my outfit from yesterday...

I like the color of this banana republic skirt, but every time I wear it I feel like a little school girl because of the pleats and its a little longer in length than most of my other skirts... I get a lot of use out of it though, I just wish it was a pencil skirt instead! I love the print on the primrose cardi and of course I'm a sucker for all jcrew printed cardis.... I paired it with the lavender frances cami today, but I'm struggling as to what other colors I can pair under the cardi...

Now on to the dress!!

I fell in love with this dress when I first saw it on the website... I was going to hold off on getting it, but I wanted to reward myself for a job well done at work this past week!

The dress is a silk and wool blend and such a gorgeous/chic print in real life! I ordered my normal dress size in jcrew, a 0, and the fit is just right. It's a little big in the waist area, which is a problem I usually run into with jcrew dresses, but a belt fixes that problem easily. I'm 5'7" and the dress hit a little bit above my knee, plus it has pockets!

I wore the dress with a blazer today because I had another presentation to make, but imagine wearing it belted with a long, black cardi in the future. I also can't wait to pair it with tights once the weather starts getting cooler.

Here's some more detailed pics of the dress...

My presentation went well and I decided to reward myself with a little treat... :)

business woman

I had a very important presentation this morning and of course I depended upon jcrew for my outfit! Once I found out that I had to make the presentation I immediately thought of Jcrew's tweed pencil skirt. I work in a pretty conservative environment, so I wanted to keep the outfit simple, but also "me" (hence the added ruffles). While I just wore the tweed skirt with basic black and white today, I'm excited about wearing it with some color... I'm thinking purples and teals - some nice, rich jewel tones.

I wore another Jcrew pencil skirt to work today... I might have a slight obsession. I love the colors and print of this skirt, but am not too happy with the fact that it is silk... it wrinkles very easily (especially since I sit at a desk all day)! I have been pairing the skirt with navy on top, but would love to find a sweater in the brighter blue color to pair with it.

I also wore my new Jcrew navy cardigan. I'm not sure what the name of the cardigan is because it is not online, but it's a great piece to add to my wardrobe. It's more than just a plain cardigan because of the detailing, but I still feel like the ruffles are subtle!

wine time!

My boyfriend a I got a bunch of wine when we visited Paso Robles a few weeks ago and we have been enjoying having some of the delicious treats! Wild Horse is a brand that is usually in grocery stores, but we got a kind that was exclusive to the winery - a Negrette! Yum!

jcrew new arrivals

I went to the Grove after work today and tried on some of the new fall arrivals....

First up, the Deco Shirred Skirt and Silk Pleated Posy top... The Deco skirt is so cute in person and I love the print, but when I tried in on in my normal size, 0, it was pretty short for the workplace. I sized up to a 2 in the skirt so that I could wear it lower on my hips and the length was a lot more appropriate for work. The Posy top is also adorable in real life, but the flowers are a little floppy as compared to pictures in the catalog. I ended up getting the barely peach color as a neutral to pair with my printed skirts. The deep rose color was also really pretty, but I already have a few camis in that color.

Next up is the Kelsey Ruffle top! In this picture I have the size 2 Deco skirt on... a lot better in length, huh? The Kelsey top is really cute in person and although it has a lot of ruffles they lie pretty flat, so it's not too overwealming. The silk felt a little thinner than the Frances and Victoria camis, but the overall fit was similar.

The black and white tweed skirt is cute and very flattering, but I already have the blushed tweed pencil skirt so I decided to pass on this one for the time being... I may go back later though... I have a weakness for pencil skirts :) JCrew also had some embellished tshirts with little rosettes that came in white, navy, grey and a pink color. I'm usually not a tshirt fan, but I really liked this one!

I kept the tweed skirt on with the beaded ribbon front top. This top is sooo much better than the cotton version... it's silk with the ribbon made out of beads and while it is loose fitting it's still flowy and flattering. It's a collection piece, so it may not be at all stores, but I think its worth seeking out... it's such a chic little top!

gossip girl

I wore a repeat outfit last Friday, but I just love this skirt so much I can't help it

Skirt: Jcrew Blushed Tweed Pencil Skirt
Cami: Jcrew Scattered Petals Tank
Sweater: Jcrew

I wore another famous Michelle O skirt on Monday, but I swear I bought it before I saw it on her! Ha!

This skirt is such a memorable print that I really don't wear it that much, but every time I put in on I remember how much I love it! Please excuse the wrinkles as well... I sit in a desk all day. I just realized I am also wearing the same sweater I wore on Friday... oh well! It's such a great neutral sweater to throw on over camis!

Sorry for the short post today... its gossip girl time! :)

labor day weekend

I wore my white pants and a paisley Banana Republic tunic on Friday to work before the long weekend. I have been wearing my white pants a ton this summer and will continue to wear them into fall as long as the weather stays nice. I hadn't worn this tunic in forever and I randomly decided to pull it out of the closet... I forgot how much I like the print - I should wear it more often!

Pants: Theory
Tunic: Banana Republic

On Sunday I headed up to Pismo Beach with my boyfriend and some friends. We spent the day wine tasting in Paso Robles and had a great time! The weather was wonderful and we got to visit three different wineries... We came back with a lot of wine! :)

On the way back from Pismo Beach on Monday we stopped and ate dinner at the Santa Barbara pier... we had two 6 pound crabs!!

Back to work on Tuesday... I love this outfit because of the colors and I always seem to get random compliments. I haven't figured out too many different outfits for this skirt and it wrinkles quite a bit, but I like the style and shape a lot!

Skirt: Jcrew
Cami: Jcrew
Cardigan: Jcrew Summerweight cashmere cardigan

I start every morning with a regular no sugar added vanilla latte <3

It was so hot today I wore another one of my summer dvf dresses.... these dresses are also great for days when I just can't decide what to wear!

We had a BBQ taste test and potluck at work today and I grabbed some food from Marilyn's Soul Food Express... some of THE BEST mac and cheese, yams and fried chicken I have ever tasted... I need to start documenting all my favorite LA restaurants!

Dress: Diane von Furstenberg

There is this house near my work that has a bunch of David statues in front... the other day I noticed all the Davids had red leather Michael Jackson jackets on... Amazing!

animal print

I was so mad this morning.... I was supposed to wear this outfit with a skinny black patent belt, but I couldn't find it anywhere! I wore the belt one night, took it off and put it in my purse... I think it's gone forever... :(

I ended up just buttoning up the cardi over my black scalloped trim dress. This jcrew dress is great because I originally bought it with a suit jacket for days when I need to be a business woman, but have been wearing it a ton just by throwing printed cardigans over it!

Cardigan: Jcrew Ocelot Cardigan
